Today I will be reviewing Fire and Flesh by Michael R. Fletcher

This little short story is set in the Manifest Delusions universe created by Michael R. Fletcher in his books Beyond Redemption and The Mirror’s Truth. In this world “Where belief defines reality, delusions are both strength and curse: The deeper you sink into madness the more powerful you become.”

This story shares the madness found in this world, but has a different feel to it. Still a very dark and gritty tale with a whole new setting and cast of insane characters. The story got rolling right away and never stopped. I loved seeing some different aspects to this crazy world and the even crazier people. This vast and rich universe created by Michael is one of the best in all of the grimdark, dark fantasy genres. I can’t recommend this author or series enough. Please do yourself a favor and give it a try.

As you know if you have read my reviews before I am not about long reviews with synopsis and spoilers. I just give my opinion on my experience with this book and you can take it from there. Now on to the next book.

Fire and Flesh: A Manifest Delusions Short Story

by Michael R. Fletcher

A retelling of the conflict between Francisco Pizarro and Atahualpa set in an early version of the world of Manifest Delusions.

This story was written back when I was still world-building for what would later become Beyond Redemption.

Beyond Redemption
