This year was a rough reading year for me. I didn’t read nearly as many books this year as I wanted. As I grow increasingly frustrated with modern fantasy works, I have found myself reading older books. Of the books I did read only three came out in 2017, but I thought I would make a best of the year list anyway. Here is hoping 2018 will be a better year for new fantasy.
And here we go, The Best Books of 2017 by Mighty Thor JRS:
#3 – Book Review: Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
3.5/5 Stars
#2 – Book Review: Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames
4/5 Stars
***#1*** – Book Review: A Gathering of Ravens by Scott Oden

Thunes Vision has a high spot on my best read this year. I need to read Kings of the Wyld, it interests me. Unfortunately, I was not a huge fan of Red Sister, that one being the biggest disappointment of the year for me.

Thunes Vision is awesome! Kings of the Wyld is good, the sequel looks bad but I guess you can’t win them all. And yes Red Sister was a huge Disappointment! I hope that series can turn around.

Interesting list. and I’m with you on that rough reading year. Red Sister just didn’t work for me, although I do remain hugely excited for the sequel, but Kings of the Wyld was among my 5-star reads as well.

Yes, Red Sister was a disappointment for me as well, hoping the next book turns around that series. Kings of the Wyld was great, but book two looks like it will not be so good. Cheers for 2018!
